Database management covers customer segmentation, customer profiling and identifying your target markets or audiences. You want to focus on the right markets and clients for your organisation as it is more efficient and effective in the longterm.

It will also stop you from pursuing the wrong clients and customers for your business and enable you to sometimes say ‘No’; a truly liberating proposition.

Understanding and applying the new GDPR guidelines will also keep you on the right side of the law AND your customers.

But where do you start?

When we work with you on database management we’ll help you to make the most of the data you own.

Whether you want to incentivise ‘word-of-mouth’ marketing, segment and target your database or manage your contact data, we’ll work with you step-by-step so you know how to maintain momentum into the future.

Most organisations will have a number of places they store customer contact data and will update them occasionally, which is fine until you remember that on average, you need at least 12 – 13 touch points with someone to convince them to buy from you.

Is your lack of database management limiting your chances to communicate with potential customers?

Even the smallest business should gather, store and use all data collected on customers, contacts (and suppliers) and create opportunities to contact them with meaningful messages and information.

General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

To be fully compliant with GDPR you now need to make sure that data is stored securely as well, with the right processes in place to safeguard it and you.

We ensure that your database is cleansed, de-duped and used ethically under the Data Protection Act and GDPR.

New regulations required from 25th May 2018 affect not only your permissions to collect and use contact data – for email marketing, say.

They also affect your responsibilities around data management and storage. If you are found to be in breach of the new laws, you can be fined.

We advise clients on how they can take a three-fold approach to GDPR with this short numbered list:

  1. Data Inventory – what data has been gathered, how long ago and for what purpose. Do you have permission to use it for marketing communications?
  2. Data Security – how is data stored and managed? Are you following best practice on cyber security? How and where can you strengthen your processes?
  3. Data Cleanse – much of the contact data you have collected may now be unusable. We take a step by step approach to all contact data and help you cleanse, de-duplicate and manage customer data now and for the future.
